With the brisk and beautiful fall weather upon us, spending time outdoors and taking in the sights of the beautiful, colourful leaves is a must-do before winter rolls around! You may be surprised to find out how many fascinating hiking spots are just waiting to be explored around your own home. Keep reading to learn about some of the GTA’s most epic trails.

Rattlesnake Point

With over 12km of beautiful trails to explore, people travel from all around Ontario to take on Rattlesnake Point near Milton. These trails line the top of the Niagara Escarpment and offer breathtaking views below, all the way down to Lake Ontario. Its trails vary in difficulty. Challenge yourself by trying the 7.2km hike to Crawford Lake Conservation Area. Take a look at these beautiful photos.

Dundas Peak

Located near Hamilton, Dundas Peak is a 3.9km of pure beauty with access to some of Hamilton's most stunning waterfalls. On this trail, you’ll see Webster and Tews Falls, both of which are some of the highest in the area. You will also see amazing views of the gorge below. Check out some photos.

Bruce Trail

This is Canada’s oldest and longest marked footpath with the main trail spanning over 800km along the Niagara Escarpment. With captivating scenery of lush forest to rocky gorges and lake vistas, Bruce Trail is a hiking spot you don’t want to miss out on this fall. Here are some great photos of the trail.

Ganaraska Trail

Located on the north shore of Lake Ontario, this incredible trail spans about 400km from end to end. It is ideal for more experienced hikers and immersing you in the heart of nature. Easier hikes are available at the Ganaraska Forest Centre. The trail even passes through the sand hills of the Oak Ridges Moraine and past the lakes and drumlin fields of the Kawarthas. Elora Gorge

The Elora Gorge Conservation Area houses a 10km trail that passes by mesmerizing waterfalls, and the flowing beauty of the Grand River. Make a day of this trail, setting up a picnic with family and friends while surrounded by abundant natural beauty. View some beautiful photos here.
